LARA PULVER
Bristol
“The real star off the show for me though was Lara Pulver, the girl who actually becomes the star of the musical "Pretty Lady." She is outstanding, and brings the stage to life. Her voice is superb and her dancing is first class. She is pretty, and likable, just what the character needs. Her talents are wondrous, and I wouldn't be surprised to see her heading a West End show one-day.”
The Stage
"Exquisitely staged on a revolve that keeps it physically in motion throughout, the churning emotions of its songs are powerfully projected by two fine musical actors Lara Pulver and Damian Humbley who bring heart as well as great art to it.”
Manchester Evening News
“Lara Pulver is outstanding as her friend Maisie, full of zip and zing.”
Theatre.com
“..Lara Pulver's Cathy sweeps the production before her…she's not the blonde one might expect from a "shiksa goddess" of the song of the same name…she herself opens up to land that and every number that follows, even if the audition sequence later on still feels tired and dated: a post-Chorus Line dramatic sequence that deserves rethinking (and is saved on this occasion by Pulver's appealingly saucer-eyed take on life, in all its absurdity, amorousness, or heartache).”
Media
Belfast Telegraph
“He meets and marries Ellen - played by Lara Pulver, returning to the Opera House after wowing audiences in High Society”
Variety
“Pulver, too, is at ease charting Cathy's route from disillusionment back to hope. As Jamie's career rockets, hers remains stagnant; Pulver amusingly delineates the degradations of an acting career that may have climaxed in summer stock in Ohio. Her best moments are when Brown allows the character to be witty as she ceaselessly and fruitlessly auditions to bored producers and deaf pianists.”
Broadwayworld.com
“Lara Pulver plays Chris’ wife Ellen with ease. It is not an easy role to carry off as your sympathy lies with Kim. But Pulver manages to make you understand that Ellen is an innocent blindly caught in the middle of a love triangle."
