I am an actress who lives in South East London. I got into acting due to my mum. I was a child with boundless energy, who would often use the phrase "Mum, I'm bored"! My mum saw a notice in our local library asking for children who would like to take part in an amateur production of Annie. So with two left feet and a voice that resembled a cross between a fog horn and Ethel Merman I went along to the auditions and landed the title role! From the first day of rehearsals the seed was sown. I wanted to be an actress.
At the age of 13, I successfully auditioned for the National Youth Music Theatre, one of Britain's best youth groups, sponsored by Andrew Lloyd Webber & The Princes Trust. Without a doubt, this gave me the best start to entering the business. This was my training.
I was an orginal cast member of Pendragon, a musical about the legend of King Arthur. As a group of 25, 13-18 year olds, we created and devised a brand new piece of theatre with Jeremy James Taylor (co-director), Frank Whateley (co-director), Jo Horton (co-director), Peter Horwood (composer & musical director) and a crew and full orchestra of under 18 year olds.
In 1994 we appeared at the George Square Theatre, Edinburgh and won a Scotsman Fringe First Festival Award. The show was a huge success and over a period of 4 years, we travelled around the world appearing at The National Theatre, Taipei, Tsuen Wan Town Hall, Hong Kong, Sha Tsin Town Hall, Hong Kong, The Lyric Theatre, Hammersmith and The City Center Theater, New York. I made my Broadway debut at 14! I can't speak highly enough of the NYMT.
With a great wealth of theatre experience, I went to train in Musical Theatre at Bird College, graduating in 2000 with a First Class BA Hons degree in Theatre Performance. Since graduating, I have been fortunate enough to work successfully and continuously across the industry. I am extremely ambitious and passionate about what I do and feel very lucky to do a job I adore!
